Check out Dr. Susan Dobscha, Professor of Marketing at Bentley University, on the Better Business Bureau podcast. She does a section on Women’s Purchasing Power in the US and global economy. She talks about historical evolution of the marketplace and women’s role in it, mom-and-pop stores, women’s purchasing power as the home CFOs and women’s role in the gig economy. She ends with the hope that women start playing a bigger role in the marketplace as producers. According to Susan, she would like to see women have more access to capital, to be owners of businesses or become venture capitalists, and to have more power to figure out how to distribute the capital in our economy and how to empower more women.
