Dear GENMAC community,
We, the co-chairs of the 2020 GENMAC Conference, have been closely monitoring developments with respect to the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially we were hoping that events would unfold in a way that would allow us to hold the conference as planned. The developments the last couple of days – with travel bans, restrictions on public gatherings, and of course, serious public health concerns – have, however, made it clear to us that the most adequate course of action is to cancel the 2020 GENMAC Conference.
For those of you who have submitted a contribution to the conference, we want to let you know that we aim to continue with the review process so that you will at least get some feedback on your work. There are also discussions on whether parts of the conference can be moved to an online format. We will let you know whether we will proceed with this idea and then continue the dialogue with those of you interested in partaking.
Finally we would like to say how very sorry we are that we will not get a chance to welcome you all to Stockholm this summer. We were very excited by all the amazing contributions we had gotten and were quite sure that this would have turned out to be a memorable conference. We were also in the midst of planning the activities outside of the conference presentations and were especially excited about having received an invitation to Stockholm City Hall where we would have had the conference reception. Hopefully we will get another chance at hosting you in Stockholm in the future.
Stay Safe!
