Research suggests writing groups are an excellent source of peer mentorship (Sarnecka, 2019). In the current cultural climate, it could be easy to become disconnected from other scholars on top of experiencing increased stress. To create a space for gender and marketing scholars to work on their research, we are introducing GENMAC Virtual Writing Retreats. This should not be perceived as a call to “be more productive” but rather as an opportunity to bring our community together through our shared passion for gender scholarship.

The second GENMAC Virtual Writing Retreat will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 from 3-5pm NZST (New Zealand Standard Time) – to accommodate scholars in Asia-Pacific time zones.

The two-hour session will provide dedicated quiet writing time, breaking occasionally to share research goals and collective support. The writing retreat will create an inclusive space for gender, consumption, and marketing scholars to build community—particularly for junior scholars (e.g., doctoral students, early career researchers) who may not have direct mentorship in gender-focused research.

RSVP to receive the Zoom link and/or more information about future writing retreats. The writing retreat will be limited to 25 participants. Registration is first-come, first-serve. Future dates will be added soon. If you have questions, email genmac.org@gmail.com.
